Bio
Stefanie Hampel studies how the nervous system processes mechanosensory stimuli to respond with appropriate behavior.
She graduated from the University of Wuerzburg with a M.S. degree (2004) and three years later with a Ph.D. degree (2007), both in Genetics and Neuobiology. After graduation she started her postdoc at Janelia Reserarch Campus in Ashburn, Virginia to hone her skills in interrogating circuit organization and function. She is currently working as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Puerto Rico Medical School to unravel how genes impact neural circuit function.
