As a postdoctoral fellow at the Biochemistry Department- University of Sao Paulo- Brazil, I carried out experiments to examine the role of the principal peptide of the kallikrein-kinin system named bradykinin and its receptor B2-kinin receptor during neural progenitor differentiation and maturation.
Dr. Nadezhda “Nadia” Sabeva serves as Assistant Professor at the Department of Neuroscience at the Universidad Central del Caribe.
My laboratory has a vast experience in studying the effects of cocaine sensitization on neurons of the ventral tegmental area (VTA). I have been studying the neurophysiology/neuropharmacology of cocaine addiction for decades. I am an expert in advanced electrophysiological and pharmacological techniques, and I apply these methods to drug abuse research.
I have been collaborating in several neuroscience related projects since a decade ago. The focus of those projects have been related to the role of neurons and glia in experimental models pertaining to ischemia, development of glioma and drug addiction. The latter group of studies have contributed to a better understanding of the role of adrenergic receptors in the activity of dopaminergic neurons of the VTA upon exposure to cocaine.
